Reviewing newly uploaded photos, videos, and documents

Complete the required details on unreviewed files so they are searchable and correctly contextualized.

Written by John Ennis

Files you upload start with the status Unreviewed. Reviewing a file means confirming its key details — title, capture date, work order, and so on — so it can be found by search and filters and linked to the right asset. The review shortcut keeps the file in front of you while you fill those details in.

What you need

  • FileEdit to review a file

  • AssetFileUpload to see the actions on the file upload table

Review from the file upload table

  1. Open any asset and go to its Files tab.

  2. Find a file with the status Unreviewed. A review icon appears in its row — only unreviewed files show it.

  3. Select the review icon. The file's detail page opens in a new browser tab with the review form already open, so you can look at the photo, video, or document while completing the fields.

  4. Fill in the required details and select Save. The status changes to Reviewed.

Review from a detail page

If you are already on a media or document detail page, the same review icon sits in the action bar just before the edit (pencil) icon. Select it to open the review form without leaving the page.

Why it matters

Reviewed files carry the metadata that search, filters, and reports rely on. Files left unreviewed are harder to find later and may not appear in filtered media results.

Tip: See Improve Media Search Results by Completing Document Properties for which details make the biggest difference.
