Activities are inspection task templates. Once created, they become a catalog that inspection campaigns can draw from, so you only have to define each activity once. This guide walks you through creating one from start to finish.
Before you start
A few things need to be in place:
You need the InspectionView permission to reach the IMR area and see the Planning navigation, and the InspectionPlanner permission to create, edit, deactivate, or delete planning activities.
If your activity will include reading tasks, a reading template covering the activity's asset types must already exist (set these up under Admin → Reading Templates). Without one, the reading dropdown will be empty.
Creating an activity
Go to IMR → Planning → Activities and select New activity.
Enter a name for the activity and pick the asset types it applies to, then continue to Activity Tasks.
Add a visual task — Type a description, keep the mode set to Rule based, and select Add task. The asset count updates and the new task appears grouped on the right.
Add an asset-specific task — Switch the mode to Asset specific, tick the assets you want in the tree, and select Add task.
Use the sliders button above the tree to toggle type/subtype tags and selected chain only. The tree updates to match your choices, making it easier to find the right assets.
Review your work — Each row shows the task name in bold, type/subtype pills, and visual/reading count badges. Use Filters to narrow the list by type or subtype and confirm everything is scoped correctly.
Select Create Activity to finish. The activity appears in the list marked Active and is ready to be used in campaigns.
Tip: A rule left with no values is simply ignored — the count stays at the full scope and the activity still saves.
Saving as a draft
If you're not ready to finish, select Save as draft instead of Create Activity. The activity appears in the list with a Draft badge. You can reopen it from the list to continue editing, and create it whenever you're ready.
Managing existing activities
From the Activities list, use the row menu to manage an activity after it's created:
Deactivate / Activate — Toggle whether the activity is available for use.
Delete — Remove a draft activity you no longer need.
