Digital Edge: Setup Guide

Set up instructions for Digital Edge DVRs

Written by John Ennis

Before You Begin

Ensure the following prerequisites are met:

  • The DVR is powered on and accessible

  • The DVR and operator device (laptop, Surface, or workstation) are connected to the same network

  • The EdgeRemoteDvr application is open on the DVR

  • Insecure Content is set to 'Allow' for Enaimco on your browser (see below)

To allow insecure content on Chrome:

  • Click the security icon (lock or warning symbol) to the left of the URL in your browser's address bar.

  • Select Site Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.

  • Scroll down in the settings panel until you locate the Insecure content option.

  • Change the setting from "Block" to "Allow" for insecure content.

  • Reload the Enaimco website.

To allow insecure content on Edge:

  • Click the three dots (...) to the right of the URL in your browser's address bar.

  • Select Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.

  • Navigate to Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Insecure content (or search "Insecure content" in Settings).

  • Select Add Site next to "Allowed to show insecure content".

  • Enter your Enaimco URL and select Add.

  • Reload the Enaimco website

Step 1: DigitalEdge Device Configuration

1. Open the Enaimco Application and navigate to the IMR module

2. Select the Settings button

3. Select "Digital Edge" from the DVR Type dropdown

4. Enter the DVR's IP address — the local network IP obtained from ipconfig on the DVR device

Note: To retrieve the IP Address from the DVR Device:

  • Open Command Prompt

  • Type "ipconfig"

  • Click enter

  • Copy IPv4 address to paste into the Enaimco website

5. Click "Test Connection" — the platform will attempt to reach the DVR and auto-discover the connection protocol

Expected result:
The status updates from Not Connected to Connected.

Step 2: Overlay Configuration

1. Open the RemoteDvr API Tester webpage for the Digital Edge DVR by entering the IP address followed by :8080 (for example, 192.168.2.67:8080)

2. Replace the default Overlay Fields with the following and select Set Available Fields:

['inspectionName", "assetGroup", "component"]

3. Open the Digital Edge application and select Overlay

4. Import the following configuration file

5. Confirm the overlay fields have been added

Note: If the fields are not importing correctly, they can be manually added by selecting the Add in Text Overlay button and creating the following entries:

Field 1

Data Field: Static Text

Text: Inspection Name

Field 2

Data Field: inspectionName

Field 3

Data Field: Static Text

Text: Asset Group

Field 4

Data Field: assetGroup

Field 5

Data Field: Static Text

Text: Component

Field 6

Data Field: component

Step 3: Test the Overlay Configuration

1. Navigate to a campaign within the Enaimco application

2. Select Connect DVR

3. Select a component

4. Select Update Overlay

5. The setup should be complete and the overlay on the DVR should be in sync with the Enaimco application

Important limitation — single connection

The DigitalEdge device can only support one HTTP connection at a time. Before connecting from the Enaimco platform, ensure no other browser tabs, applications, or devices are connected to the DVR.

Note: Specific DigitalEdge device configuration steps (firmware settings, API enablement) may require input from DigitalEdge vendor documentation. Consult the vendor's documentation or contact DigitalEdge support for device-specific setup.

Conclusion

The DVR is now connected and recordings, clips, stills, and overlays can be controlled through the Enaimco application.
